hammcrkind:

i felt so strongly about the flag discourse™ that i said screw it and made my own. gay man flag, highly inspired by the purple-pink-yellow-green sappho lesbian flag.

stripe meanings:

  • blue for masculinity, and loving men and masculine-identifying persons who feel the title of “man/boy” is applicable to them,
  • green for masculine identities also, as well as multisexual mlm/nblm and our shared history,
  • yellow for trans and nonbinary mlm/achillean/gay men and boys, especially including everyone outside of the binary who wishes to be included in those labels, and
  • magenta as a nod to the pink triangles and to our community’s history. magenta is also a mix of pink and purple, so it could be seen as paying homage to the nonbinary and genderqueer flags and further solidifying the breaking of the binary

blue, green, yellow, and purple/pink are also stripes on the rainbow flag, tying back into our history yet again!

the green, yellow, and pink were of course inspired by the sappho lesbian flag. the shades/sequence aren’t exact so as to not lift the colors entirely nor step on any toes. (should any issues arrive, i can take this post down!)

mostly i wanted a flag that paid respects to our past, our elders, and those who came before us. more of a concept than a concrete design TBH, feedback highly welcome.

An idea: Transitional pronouns. That is, pronouns one would use throughout their social or physical transition while dropping old pronouns. They’re not pronouns one would use for safety or because they have to, but because they choose to do so as part of their transitioning.

Someone may use he/ve/fae as transitional pronouns, which means he may use ‘he’ pre-transition, ‘ve’ mid-transition, and finally ‘fae’ toward the end of faer transition.

I will do transitional pronoun flags as request only, because there are so many combinations.

Ok y’all. For the purposes of the gender site, I’ll be referring to genders that are “pan/omni/polygender in nature” (as has already been designated as category/quality in the definitions of genders like virea, puellix, and puerix) as POIN. I considered OPIN as well and did prefer it for a while, but that would make the viagender counterpart ‘opiagender’ which is just a little too reminiscent of a word for certain pain relieving drugs/medications.

enb-ab-y:

[ There are ten lockscreen-sized images consisting of gender pride flags with the colors blurred together. The phrase “too queer for your binary” is on top of the flags. The identities are as follows: enboy, girlby, genderfae, genderfaer, genderfaun, genderfaunet, genderflor, two-spirit, xenogender, neurogender. ]

enb-ab-y:

I present to you two new gender terms I have coined!

Femarsic: a gender characterized by feminine, male energy

Venascic: a gender characterized by masculine, female energy

Femarsic combines the words fem(inine) and Mars. Venascic combines the words Venus and masc(uline). Mars is considered to represent masculinity (or maleness) while Venus is considered to represent femininity (or femaleness). The flags are created using colors I picked from pictures of the respective planets, plus blue and pink to represent male and female, of course. The colors being out of order is to represent how some people may find this identity to be “contradictory.”

These terms can be considered to be a form of bigender or androgyne! I made them with my fictionkin in mind, who is a transfeminine boy. He enjoys presenting as male and using male pronouns and such, but nonetheless identifies more with females roles and female spaces as opposed to male ones, and also identifies as a “sapphic boy.” Despite his “male” identity, he feels wlw and nblw should be attracted to him due to his feminine identity, and the whole binary separatism makes him feel quite dysphoric. I’m tired of struggling to fit his gender into binary terms, so I coined some on my own!

Free to use for anyone who feels these fit their identity! ❤

Transformist Pride Flag

arco-pluris:

beyond-mogai-pride-flags:

I saw some articles and people using this as a way to draw a line between cross-dressing and drag (monarch, queer, queen, quing or feather), a form of self-identification but also a gender expression and presentation term. So it’s basically an identity too. I could call it transmorphic too. -AP

Oof forgot to mention king

It came to my attention this was culturally started in Brazil as transformista. It’s not so known/used in English I guess.

“Friendship is born at that moment when one man says to another: “What! You too? I thought that no one but myself …”

disconnectix:

Disconnectix:

A gender defined by a complete lack of gender. Completely disconnected from your body, and completely unattached to any conceivable notion of gender. You view the self as a sort of being that lives inside your brain, not the blood and cells and flesh that makes up the rest of your body. If given the chance, you’d leave your body behind and your true self would roam elsewhere. This is Disconnectix.

It is also characterized by a strong attachment to robots, technology and the internet.

Pronouns: None. The subject is simply referred to as the name the subject uses. ‘They’ is only used if absolutely necessary.

mogainauts:

I coined a gender!

Decidugender – A gender related to temperate forests and cool weather. Also related to insects, snails, autumn days, long hiking trails, and a little bit of mystery. Typically gives off enby vibes, but can be used by anyone with anything.

Meaning:

Decidu- comes from the word deciduous, as in deciduous forest.

Delusogender

beyond-mogai-pride-flags:

Delusogender: a subset of posigender (a gender identity that is influenced by the positive symptoms of a schizophrenic person) in which one’s gender is influenced by one’s delusions. Strictly for schizophrenic/psychotic/delusional people. This can be a multigender identity if your delusogender is made of multiple genders itself.

Flag meaning:
– Black Outline: The disconnect between one’s delusions and reality.

– Red: Paranoid Delusions
– Orange: Delusions of Grandeur
– Yellow: Divine/Godly Delusions
– Teal: Reality and Nihilistic Delusions
– Blue: Truman Show Delusions
– Dark Blue: Persecutory Delusions

The [gender] part of delusigender can be replaced by any gender term one feels they may identify with in their delusional state, as in delusoboy, delusogirl, delusononbinary, and so on.

Holidelusogender: a subset of delusogender in which one’s gender is affected by delusions of being divine, holy,  demonic, angelic, or godly.

Flag Meanings:
– Black Outline: The disconnect between one’s delusions and reality.
– Fuchsia: Malevolent Beings, Malevolent Gods, Demonic Beings, Hellish Beings
– Orange: Beings that are partially malevolent and partially benevolent
– Gold: Holiness, Divinity
– Pale Yellow: Benevolent Beings, Benevolent Gods, Angelic Beings, Heavenly Beings
– Cream: Immortality, Existence, Higher Being
– Teal: Power
– Blue: Strong emotions related to one’s divinity
– Navy: Heavens

Grandelusogender: a subset of delusogender in which one’s gender is influenced by delusions of grandeur.

Flag Meaning:
– Black Outline: The disconnect between one’s delusions and reality.
– The bright colors are meant to evoke feelings associated with grandeur.

Paradelusogender: a subset of delusogender in which one’s gender is influenced by paranoid delusions.

Flag Meaning:
– Black Outline: The disconnect between one’s delusions and reality.
– Shades of red and grey are meant to represent the feelings evoked by paranoia.

Delusofluid (doesn’t have a flag yet): a subset of posigender in which one’s gender changes as they experience delusions. This can be fluid through delusogenders, or simply changing between experiencing a delusogender and not experiencing one.

I was inspired by these posts by @positivelygenderqueerguy to make a little comic about why some people might identify as genderqueer guys! Done with markers on index cards so the color is a little off 😮

Image description:

An image showing twelve figures speaking. First is a person with a greenish shirt with an ace pin and bi pin, brown hair, and tan skin. They are saying, “I’m a masc aligned nonbinary person!”

After them is a dark-skinned person with wide shoulders wearing a yellow tank top with a purple star. They have dark hair, a beard, and several piercings. They are saying, “I’m bigender, and my two genders are nb and male.”

The third person has purple hair in a bun, purple lipstick, and tan skin, and is wearing a purple tank top over a mesh shirt. They are saying, “I’m multigender, and being masculine is the most important part of me.”

Next is a person with brown skin and cropped black hair and a beard, wearing a turquoise shirt, saying, “I’m genderfluid, and my gender is often male or male-aligned.”

Below them is a young looking person with brown skin, dark brown spiky hair, glasses, and a pink shirt. They have a turqouise-colored cochlear implant. They are saying, “I’m boyflux—when my gender is at its strongest, I’m male or masculine!”

After them is a person with sunglasses, orange hair, and a pearl necklace, making finger guns and saying, “I’m agender, but if I had to pick a gender, I’d be a guy.”

Next is a person with blond hair and dark sin, wearing an earring and a green collared shirt, and saying, “Being perceived and raised as female affects my identity as a trans man.”

Below them is a person with a dark curly bob cut and pink cardigan and shirt. They are gesturing with their hand as they say, “I’m nb, but I feel connected to manhood because I was raised and seen as male.”

Under them is a person with dark skin, a green scarf, and hair in the style of “poodlepuffs”. They are saying, “I’m neurodivergent, and that makes my connection to masculinity more genderqueer than binary.”

Next is a person wearring a beige hoodie with a pan pin and mlm pin. They are saying, “I only feel like a man through my love of men—if I weren’t mlm I wouldn’t be male.”

Under them is a dark skinned person with black hair in a bun, wearing a blue t-shirt. They are saying, “I’m butch, and I prefer the word “guy” over “man” in reference to myself.”

The last person has curly green hair and a yellow shirt, and brown skin. They are saying, “I consider myself cis, but I don’t feel 100% boy all the time.

At the bottom is an drawing of all the people standing together, smiling, arms around each other. Several are using mobility aids or prosthetic limbs. The text above them reads in all caps, “We’re genderqueer guys!”

Transbian flag

Mixing a trans woman/transfeminine flag with lesbian.

gender-resource:

Sentaparte: A present feeling of gender that is both vague and faint, as if it existed in a perceptible state of dissociation from the rest of oneself.

Also called Jellogender.

Etymology

A portmanteau originating from the Esparanto word “Senta”, meaning “(a) feeling” + “aparte”, meaning “separate” or “dissociated”. Literally, “(a) feeling (of) separation”. Term coined by Gent (Gender-Resource), 2020.

  • Sentaparte could be considered an ambiguous gender identity in itself or it could be used to describe the manner in which one experiences other gender(s).

The term Sentaparte was was created to provide a more dignified synonym to the term Jellogender, which was coined by user transkuroK0 in 2014 via
foxythepirate-fox (deactivated)
, and later posted to MOGAI-archive (deactivated). The original definition of Jellogender, which served as a reference for the creation of the term Sentaparte, was defined by the coiner as:

… jellogender, where you only faintly feel a gender?? –
and like its definitely present– but you kind of have this vague,
dissociated feeling with it? kind like if you were to encase the gender
in jello!! (‘cause like its visible, but its kinda covered n stuff??)

Flag

Jellogender faded into obscurity shortly after coining and never received a flag, so their is no flag to reference in the creation of a flag for the term Sentaparte. To pay homage to the the term Jellogender, the main colors of the Sentaparte flag are taken from the packaging of the original flavors of Jello, which are raspberry, strawberry, orange and lemon, and correspond to the first, second, fourth and fifth stripes, respectively. These four stripes, which are wine red, bright red, yellow-orange and mustard yellow, represent the feeling that one’s gender is dissociated or somehow separate from the rest of oneself. The middle stripe is a light beige with four, small inner stripes. These stripes are lavender, slate blue, teal and light olive green. The light beige represents the vague, faint nature of this gender. The four, small, somewhat desaturated cool-toned stripes are meant to contrast with the the four, bright warm-toned stripes. These small stripes represent a present, perceptible feeling of gender. The positioning of the stripes is also important, as the the center-most stripe is “encased” between the “Jello” stripes. Flag by Gent (Gender-Resource), 2020.

I’m using the suggestion from anon and posting these flags that are both male- and female-aligned (or both male and female.) You could consider some of these as demi-trigender* identities.

From top to bottom, left to right:

Nuavire: Part female, part male, part gender neutral.*
Staravire: Part female, part male, part celestial gender.*
Incognivire: Being part female and part male, but not knowing the third part.*
Xenoavire: Having a female- and male-aligned xenogender.
Softavire:

A “soft” female and male or female- and male-aligned gender. It can also mean having a connection to “soft” female- and malehood.

Neutroisavire: Part female, part male, part neutrois.*
Voidavire: Part female, part male, part gendervoid.*

circulisc:

Here, have an alternate pansexual flag i designed!

Stripes:

Saturated pink – Sapphic pansexuals. Sapphic is an umbrella term for any WLW, covering Lesbian, Bi, Pan, Poly, Abro in some cases and more.

Less saturated pink – Pansexuals’ attractions to females in general.

Saturated yellow – Diamoric pansexuals. Diamoric has two meanings:

– one as the same as Sapphic but applying to non binary people; as in enby x enby.

– the other describing any relationship with a non binary person in it.

A binary-gendered person can only apply the latter meaning to themself.

But for this flag’s sake it’s the former meaning.

Less saturated yellow – Pansexuals’ general attractions to non binary people.

Saturated blue – Achillean pansexuals. Achillean is an umbrella term for any MLM, covering Gay, Bi, Pan, Poly, Abro in some cases and more.

Less saturated blue – Pansexuals’ attractions to males in general.

i got inspired by the abro flag for this one! i’m very proud of it, this is my first time designing a flag. Could I ask that you all use this one if you see it? i made this cause our current flag is too clashy-

Gender Coining

mogaicrow:

To be clear first of all, this gender was not created by me, and I was reached out to by someone who wanted help naming it and designing flags, and they wish to remain anonymous about who they are. They felt more comfortable having me help them due to me also having ASPD.

Privumgender/Privaegender/Privagender/Privigender:

A neurogender affected by ASPD, those with this gender feel their experience with gender is affected by their ASPD.

Privumgender is for those whoes gender either has no specific alignment or the alignment is unspecified, Privaegender is for those whoes gender is neutral, mixed, or xenine in alignment, Privagender is those whoes gender is feminine in alignment (not particularly female), Privigender is for those whoes gender is masculine in alignment (not particularly male), this doesn’t HAVE to be telling of presentation.

This can also be used as privumflux, privumgirl, privumboy, etc, you can also use it as something like privifluid (for those with this gender who feel it is both fluid for them and masculine), privaboy (for those where it is feminine but closest to or can be described as ‘boy’), etc.

If you feel that girl/boy is infantalizing you can also use privumman or privumwoman, or whatever else you want.

This gender is only for people with ASPD (ofc)

A brief overview of the asexual flag and an unpacking of the controversies surrounding it. See under the cut for a text transcription of the images as well as additional commentary and links to sources.

You can engage with this post or discuss this in the notes, but I have some ground rules you must follow. Anyone not following these will be blocked, because I have zero interest in debating this stuff. To engage, you must:

  • Not challenge the word “queer” as a reclaimed identity label
  • Accept asexuality as belonging within the queer/LGBT+ community regardless of romantic orientation
  • Accept aromanticism as belonging within the queer/LGBT+ community regardless of sexual orientation
  • Accept the existence of demisexuality and its inclusion under the asexual umbrella

I feel like those four will likely wield out a lot of the bad actors and exclusionists. If you see someone violating the rules of engagement, do not argue with them. Just @ me so I can block them.

There’s no limit on the amount of labels you can identify as. However many labels you need for your identity to feel like yours is the right amount.

would you be at all interested in talking a bit about misophonia?

sabertoothwalrus:

it’s an extreme sensitivity to a specific set of sounds

for me it’s eating/chewing sounds, sniffling, coughing, breathing, etc. Even just the sound of someone’s voice when there’s food or mucus in their throat bothers me. I’m very very sensitive to these sounds, but it usually only affects me if the sounds are continuous and I can’t remove myself from them, or if I’m tired and already at a higher anxiety level.

I also have misokinesia, which is the visual version of this. I can’t even have someone chewing gum or twirling their hair in my peripheral vision without getting major anxiety. I usually have to just turn my head or block it out with my hands.

Basically what’s going on is my brain processes these sounds and movement as something dangerous, which elicits a fight or flight response in my body. This is why I like comparing it to an allergy; it’s your body reacting to something harmless as if it weren’t.

the best part is, there’s no cure/treatment 🙂

eating with other people is very hard for me

What is misophonia and why people always ask about it? When I read about it seems like Autism? What? But is two different things right?

actuallyadhd:

Misophonia is “hatred of sound” but specifically it is a disorder where particular sounds cause people to get really really angry/upset and/or anxious. These sounds tend to be things like other people chewing or breathing, and it’s often specific to family members (or it’s global but worse with family members). There are people who have misophonia who can’t be in the same room as their families during meals.

It’s not a widely known disorder and isn’t in the DSM yet, so that’s why people ask about it. Autistic people often have misophonia, but it is not autism-specific. People do usually have some kind of neurological difference like ADHD, autism, OCD, or an anxiety disorder if they have misophonia.

This was inspired by two things:

1- I’m a bisexual woman dating a cis straight man. That doesn’t make me straight, and that doesn’t make my relationship a straight one. That doesn’t mean I belong less in the LGBT+ community than a gay person.

2- The fourth example was not a joke. I’m in a fandom where two genderless entities with a temporary human shape are paired together. I’ve seen artists get hate because they drew them “looking straight”. The characters are still non-binary, still in love, STILL NOT STRAIGHT. Do not allow this toxic rhetoric in your fandom. Protect artists.

To replace demigirl and demiboy, here, we have demifemme and demimasc, which are darker, more elegant, and more mature (at least, that was my intent). But the deep purple flag was just for fun–or for a combination identity.

Lovegender – usually a general detachment from gender (at least in a typical sense), where its completely or mostly influenced by your love of love. it can just mean your gender is love, or it can be related to omnique, orientationgender, or other such things- just as long as your gender is defined by love in some way.

additional info:

  • can consist of/be used alongside with any genders and orientations (lovegender nonbinary, lovegender transmasc, lovegender lesbian, lovegenderfluid, etc)
  • lo/lov/loves/loveself pronouns are most related to lovegender, but any pronouns can be used.
  • “love” in this means any type of love, not just romantic/sexual.
  • the lovegender symbol contains some gender symbols within a heart to represent the meaning of the term (gender defined by love). the big cross along the center is from the girl symbol, the asterisk-like symbol on the right for nonbinary, and the arrow point for boy. together it looks like an arrow going through a heart to fit the theme of love!

extra definitions:

  • omnique – fluid gender and orientation, where youre always gay for who youre attracted to.
  • orientationgender – where your gender and orientation are closely tied together or are completely one and the same.

thx for the definitions in ur about

My simple about? You’re welcome! I use descriptors to talk about myself, instead of being so esoteric/wordy. I had forgot to do this before.

I’m going to do a carrd in the future. I’m glad I could help.

Terminology: Amatonormativity

polyamandhellaglam:

The word Amatonormativity was coined by Elizabeth Brake, Professor of Philosophy at Rice University and researcher on the philosophy of love, sex, marriage, and parenthood.

She defines Amatonomrativity as

“The widespread assumption that everyone is better off in an exclusive, romantic, long-term coupled relationship, and that everyone is seeking such a relationship.”

Amatonormativity essentially believes that everyone experiences romantic attraction, is monogamous, and needs long term partnership. It impacts everyone but has the most pronounced negative impacts on aromantics, polyamorous people, asexuals, and people who choose to be single.

Amatonormativity sees aromantics and the purposefully single as an impossibility, because surely everyone needs romance to be happy. It sees polyamory as abnormal or damaging, because it isn’t exclusive coupling and thus isn’t the right type of relationship. Amatonormativity also usually includes a traditional view on sex, in which people need sex to be happy and that sexual/sexually monogamous relationships are the only type of relationship that brings real happiness.

Amatonormativity views everything that isn’t long-term, sexually and romantically monogamous partnership as incorrect. It views the way that people “normally are” as being monogamous, sexual, romantic, and coupled. Any deviation from that must either be a phase, a temporary stop on the way to eventually “settling down” or as a flaw, where someone is actively resisting what is “normal” and “healthy.”

Genderqueer

arquivo-pluris:

Spadesgender: a gender based on the card suit spades. its alignment is not traditionally gendered (ex: feminine, masculine, neutral), but rather based on the individual cards of the suit, such as the ace of spades, king of spades, etc.

Describing Alignment

nonbinary-sapphic:

A guest post by @vergess.

What is a nonbinary person’s “Gender Alignment”?

You may have seen terms such as “male aligned” and “female aligned” floating around the internet in the last year or so. This is an attempt to label the paradoxical double0existence of many nonbinary people.

Because of the way their identities intersect with the gender binary, there are times when it is useful to categorize ourselves as having overlapping experiences with either men, or women. If there is a very large amount of overlap, such as if one is exclusively perceived as a man/woman and is therefore subject to the specific social backlash that effects those classes, it can be valuable to “align” ourselves with those classes, to have meaningful discussions about how oppression functions.

For example, although a cis man of color and a proxvir person of the same race will experience their own genders differently, and internalize very different narratives, both will be subject to the same external forces of male-specific racism (eg: assumption of violent intent, being perceived as adult even when children, etc).

Similarly, a cis woman with Complex PTSD (also called Borderline Personality) is going to be subject to a lot of vicious medical misogyny regarding her diagnosis and treatment. An ambonec person perceived (and misgendered) primarily as female will be subject to very, very similar, if not identical, medical abuses.

There is value in being able to say, “I am negatively affected by this specific set of gendered preconceptions, even though I am not actually of this gender.”

This was the intended purpose of terms such as “male aligned” and “female aligned.” To identify strong overlaps in external pressures and experiences, or to identify overlaps in personal identity with the experiences of another gender.

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way.

What went wrong?

The same thing that always goes wrong when nonbinary people are being scrutinized: gender alignment language was, and is, used as a way to “prove” that nonbinary people are really male or female, and in many cases, to prove that nonbinary people are cis.

This sort of problem had cropped up occasionally before, but the uprise of anti a-spec discourse and the strong enforcement of the Same/Similar Gender Attraction model really brought us to a tipping point.

For many nonbinary people, terms like “woman aligned” or “man aligned” are no longer useful for their intended purpose: describing our experiences of gendered violence in society.

This is an especially brutal loss to Nonbinary people of color, for whom gendered violence is much starker than white people, but it negatively impacts us all.

So what can we do about it?

What we always do: evolve and thrive.

As our language is taken from us, we endeavour to create new terms that will fulfill our needs without being subject to the same weaknesses as the older language.

We know, for example, that the inclusion of man, woman, male and female in alignment language created a dangerous opening for abuse by cis binarist and exorsexist people trying to erase our experiences and identities.

The obvious solution, then, is to create terms that fulfill this necessary language gap, but do not offer immediate recourse to “Hah! I knew you were a man/woman/cis person all along!” for those would silence and harm us.

With that in mind, after some group discussion, we would like to present a possible solution.

Gender Astronomy

Space is genderless. Of course it is. But simultaneously, many aspects of space are gendered, whether for artistic, religious, or cultural reasons. Likewise, nonbinary identities have long has associations with space, from modern xenogenders, to the mythological gods and heroes of old that are immortalized in constellations and pantheons.

With consideration to both that history, and the fact that these terms need to describe both that we are not of these genders, and yet that other people force those genders on us and create this experience, we propose the following terms.

Stellarian: With as many possible identities and presentations as there are stars in the sky, a Stellar Nonbinary Person, or Stellarian, would be someone who does not experience strong alignment with either binary gender, or who rejects such alignment.

Solarian: In many cultures and religious systems, the sun is associated with masculinity, and male energy. As a result, a Solar Nonbinary Person, or Solarian, would be someone who has similarities in identity or experience with men. The term functions as a less easily abused form of “male aligned.”

Lunarian: In equally many cultures, where the sun is man, the moon is woman and feminine energy. As a result, a Lunar Nonbinary Person, or Lunarian, would be someone who has similarities in identity or experience with women. It functions as a less easily abused term for “female aligned.”

  2. Anarchgender²: a genderless/agender regigender (regisgenderless); gender anarchy (anarchagender/anarcagender or anarcogender, anarchigender/anarquigender, anarquiagender).

Both can be used interchangeably. Basing our quinggender flag and the concept of drag queer/quing/monarch (and anarch/antarch).

Giratinagender/Giratigender: usually connected to feelings of genderlessness, being equally imposing, titanic and having a great impact on the person’s life. But it’s also mysterious, alluding any sort of pinpointed description other than “kind of a antipositrois but not quite 100% there” or something of the sort.

The individual feels like it can change or fluctuate depending on how they immaterially impact anything, but the initial feelings it’s connected to will still be there.

Since Giratina’s influence over antimatter, I use antipositrois here to encompass antigenders of comgender and eugender (agender and ungender), not only touching negatrois spectrum, extending to nultrois too. Can be a hellgender too.

Based on arceusgender, dialgender and palkiagender.

queer liberation not gay assimilation

Gay Assimilation is “no fats no femmes no asians” in a grindr profile. It’s cops marching in uniform at Pride. It’s a gay man like Milo being a leading figure of the fascist resurgence in the US. It’s banks using us as props for feel good ads while denying loans to trans women. It’s “equal opportunity employers” hiring lgbt+ people to make the drones used to kill queer Arabs. It’s a Starbucks with a rainbow police shield “safe space” sticker on the door while a cop down the street assaults a black trans woman. It’s cramming gay people into the predefined boxes of a cisnormative hetnormative white supremacist capitalist society. It’s abandoning the fringes to the cold so that those of us closest to the mainstream can get a pass as long as we don’t act “too gay” in public. Gay Assimilation is maintaining all the same broken power structures that enabled our oppression to begin with.

Queer Liberation is dismantling oppressive structures. It’s abolishing prisons, opposing war, subverting capitalism, disarming/dismantling the police. It’s building new models of community and resistance, it’s refusing to abandon our siblings on the edges because they are no less deserving than those of us who can “fit in”. It’s refusing to cut out bits of ourselves to accommodate the comfort of straight people. Queer Liberation is striving to create a radically different society where systems of oppression and biases have been challenged and uprooted.

Queer liberation does not kowtow to neoliberal ideals, cishets are not invited

I agree wholeheartedly with everything but “queer” is still an incredibly hurtful slur for many people so let’s not use it.

Why call it queer liberation rather than gay liberation

Because queer is a bigger umbrella term than gay.

Then why say “gay assimilation”? Because it’s only a Gay problem?

Because a feature of assimilationism is picking the most surface-level part of a community to “accept into” the privilege, and leaving everyone beyond the fence to rot. The spirit of assimilationism is “I got mine, fuck you”.

And too often the rest of the community gets erased or all lumped in under a label that doesn’t actually click. Gay rights, gay pride, gay marriage, gay parents, gay couples, gay adoption. Like you just wanted to call it gay liberation. Currently the most visible and least theoretically-complicated community (therefore easiest to accept) among ours is the gay community. But I’m not gay. The ones who get kicked to the curb if the assimilation succeeds won’t be gay for the most part either. Bc when the ones in power give in and say “ok, gay rights then”, those rights are given only to the gay ones.

And though not all, some gay ppl are really comfortable in that perceived proximity to privilege – as seen in the intracommunity transphobia and biphobia that just won’t die, for a start. This doesn’t mean gay ppl are kicked out or some shit, it just means that they don’t get to continue to be the face of the community. There shouldn’t be a face, nor center, nor hierarchy. There will be no liberation until it’s liberation for all of us, equally.

As for why it’s queer specifically, that’s bc the word has historical and symbolic meaning. “Not gay as in happy, queer as in fuck you”, “we’re here, we’re queer, get used to it” – the word is tied to rebellion against the system. Its whole reclamation represents the goals of liberation – a world in which “weird, strange” isn’t an insult, isn’t a threat. Where even if you’re weird, you’re still human and will be treated as such. But as long as the idea that being strange deserves punishment, that it’s a bad thing, persists, there will be no liberation. Just assimilation pretending to be it, and a bunch of ppl looking away from the “real queers” who “deserve it for real, this time”.

You don’t have to reclaim it personally, and the word is referring to the concept of queerness more than the people – you’re included in queer liberation even if you’re not in the queer-identifying community. But like a person with a trigger for knives is gonna have to learn how to navigate a kitchen, so will you, bc that’s the word right now. Until you find an alternative that doesn’t kick any of us to the curb as “acceptable sacrifices”, and make it catch on with the majority, you’ll have to live with the fact that there’s a kitchen in your building with knives in it, and sometimes your neighbours will want to use those knives to cook dinner.

TL;DR the goal of assimilationism is for one small section of the community, currently most likely the gay community, to escape being considered queer, and the goal of liberation is to abolish the idea that being queer deserves abuse in the first place. That’s why it’s queer liberation.

what does it mean to be mspec and gay/lesbian? like does it mean, homo-romantic bi/pan/poly/omni-sexual (or vice versa)? or bi/pan/poly/omni-romantic and homo-romantic (or sexual) at the same time? or both? ???

neopronouns:

there’s a few meanings!

1) (mspec)romantic + homosexual or homoromantic + (mspec)sexual

2) being attracted to multiple genders, and because of your own gender, you’re gay for all of them

3) being mspec, but highly prioritizing or much more strongly feeling your attraction to the same gender to the point that gay/lesbian fits you a lot of the time

4) using the historical, non-exclusionary definitions of gay and lesbian and thus being gay/lesbian because you’re mlm/wlw/nln

5) having a fluid/flux/flexible orientation (typically in this situation, the person always or almost always feels mlm/wlw/nln attraction and sometimes is attracted to other genders, but it varies)

6) (i’ll use lesbian for this explanation, but it also works for gay) being attracted to women and nonbinary people/certain groups of nonbinary people (such as unaligned enbies or demigirls), and though you consider your attraction to all of them to be lesbian, you also want to acknowledge that you’re attracted to more than one gender

7) i’ve seen this one less, but i have seen some gays/lesbians use mspec gay/lesbian labels because they had a partner come out as trans (as in, they were in a lesbian relationship but the partner came out as a trans man, etc) and though they still identify as gay/lesbian wrt all other situations, they’re still attracted to their partner and recognize that that makes them mspec

and there could be more, but that’s off the top of my head!

isn’t continuing to id as a lesbian if your partner comes out as a trans man a little iffy..? obviously to each their own and as long as they’re both comfortable with it, it’s fine as it’s none of my business, but it still feels vaguely transphobic to me.

neopronouns:

identifying solely as a lesbian would be, yes, but as an mspec lesbian, no! in that situation, it’s finding a way to respect your partner’s gender while still acknowledging that, outside of them, you don’t consider yourself attracted to that gender.

would you say bixa/bicha is culture-locked?

Bitcha exists in English… It’s culturally opened to anyone, not exclusive to queer people since many cis straights use it for themselves (complimentary as opposed to pejorative). It’s like bish (implicit for bitch).

Like you can refer to a closed friend/intimate social contact as bicha, at least in Portuguese/Brazil, whether this person is or not LGBT+. Similar to fairy in English.

Depends the context, it could only make sense in the specific language. It is and still is not, paradoxically. I recommend you listen to the music bixa preta.

Edit: it’s similar to queer, it has its peculiarities.

Idk who needs to hear this but sexual attraction without anything else can still be meaningful, sex can be very important and emotionally charged and it can form genuine, healthy bonds based on mutual support. two-spirit pride flag proposal

i tried to keep it simple since its a flag and all, and put serious thought into the imagery and colours!! i’ve also included a transparent version of the center image so one could print it off to trace / copy if need be!

explanations on the colours & imagery used:

the green (#006b08) represents the earth around us that our people had lived in harmony with and help take care of while it took care of us. nature & harmony

the blue (#1a7cb1) represents the water and its ever-changing and nurturing nature. kindness & adaptability

the purple (#e66bff) represents the cultural significance of our identity as two spirit peoples, and the sacredness of the life as a two spirit person the great spirit has given us. spirituality

the turtle represents the truth in living as who we are, and as the turtle has known us from birth, knows that we are living truthfully as two spirit people

the two eagle feathers represent the two spirits that live inside, and the love that we experience as two spirit people, and the love that we must give ourselves in this colonialist world

and at the center is the medicine wheel, a common symbol in many indigenous cultures that represent the phases of life, the seasons, and the circular motion of the world & its cycles. it sits in the middle to remind us of how our culture is the center of our two spirit identities and that without our culture and heritage, we cannot be two spirit.

now, all of this is made by me, an anishinaabe person, so i am open to hearing critique from other indigenous & two spirit people of other cultures as well!!

also, people who are not indigenous, are free to reblog so other two spirit people can see it, but please no commentary unless you’re indigenous! thank you

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you so much for this blog, as of recently I wanted to come to terms about my gender and such, and seeing the term Juxera really did describe me in a way that I couldn’t express before. I have always felt feminine, yet I felt a bit off or different about it. If there is any other identity related to this feeling possibly, or even more information about being a Juxera that you would think is useful, I would love to know some so i can be sure! ♡

gender-resource:

Hey there! I’m so happy you found my blog to be useful to you. 🙂

Here’s a bit of info on Juxera as a term, it’s history as well synonyms for it you may also find useful:

Juxera: A gender relative to Female, but is distinct from it. It does not lie outside of the Gender Spectrum.

Juxera is a gender that is similar to Female, but is not so much so that it could be considered congruent. Juxera is not defined by specific characteristics but more so by it’s juxtaposition with Femaleness. Without Femaleness, Juxera can not be defined in the same way.

If one were to consider the location of Juxera in the Gender Spectrum, it would be encompass the area immediately surrounding what is culturally considered “Female”, regardless of what alignment it may be moving towards or away form.  As a result, there are many, many ways to be a Juxera, because it means that one has a gender that is immediately proximal to Female. There is not right or wrong way to be a Juxera and there are no predefined roles for this gender, so my advice to you is to be genuine. 🙂

Juxera is a nonbinary/genderqueer identity coined by user wulfgendur in 2014. It appears the coiner was looking for a term to describe xyr experience with gender, creating the term Proxvir, and with it, Juxera. According to the coiner, the these terms are meant to be used as adjectives (i.e. “I am Juxera”). The etymology is Latin, with “Juxta” meaning “near” and “era” meaning “lady”, “mistress” or “goddess”. There two different flags for the term Juxera, which can be found here

Here are some terms that are similar to Juxera:

  • Kiltergirl: A feminine gender that feels off kilter.
  • Ceterogirl: A nonbinary gender with specific feelings of femininity.
  • Demifeminine: An identity that is partially feminine, but not entirely so.
  • Erique: Having a partial connection to Womanhood
  • Flexfingender: A flexible gender that is predominately feminine, but somehow diverges from gender femininity.
  • Femproche: A gender expression that is feminine, despite a gender identity that is not. An identity where one’s feminine gender expression is an integral part of one’s queer experience. Can sometimes be used as a synonym for Juxera.
  • Nonpuella: Someone who is not Female at all in any way, shape, or form, but feels a strong connection to femininity within their gender.
  • Madchen: A term to describe abinary, neuter and null individuals whose gender coincidentally shares some qualities with feminine genders despite not being derived or related to masculinity, femininity, androgyny, epicenity or any other (mid)binary concept.
  • Lunarian: A nonbinary, feminine alignment.
  • Offgirl: A gender that closely represents Femaleness, but is not Female.
  • Paragirl: A gender that is near to, but not quite Female.
  • Perigirl: An identify around or near the Female gender.

I hope this helped!

Nice try but the first 3 are not gay. You Tumblr degenerate send your wishful thinking. seriously do you people have to ruin everything…

Deadpool is pansexual. Loki is bisexual and gender fluid. Wonder Woman is bisexual like all the Amazons. Educate yourself about comic canon before saying something ridiculous.

Do you have any reliable sources that can back this up?

You mean… besides the fucking comics?!

Wonder Woman was shown as canonically bisexual in the main DCU continuity in Wonder Woman: Year One (She was heavily implied to be numerous times before then but it was stated canonically in that comic that she had romantic and sexual relationships with multiple Amazons and left her girlfriend behind to journey to our world to stop the threat of Ares sons bringing chaos and war to the world)

She’s also canonically bisexual in Wonder Woman: Earth One where she straight up tells Steve Trevor that another Amazon is her lover and also in DC Comics Bombshells where she and Mera were girlfriends

Loki is canonically bisexual and generfluid…they have shifted from male to female multiple times stating that both are their real form and Odin, Loki’s father, referred to Loki as “Their child who is both male and female” in a published Marvel comics

And anyone who thinks Deadpool is straight has not only never read the comics but also apparently never been to see either movie either because I’m not sure what part of Deadpool grabbing Colossus’s chrome plated ass and dry humping him made them think “Yeah this is a Totally Straight Hetero Just Bros Being Bros”

Fake fans 🙄 Read the comics. all your faves are queer

Wait did people literally not get the memo on any of this?

Fake fanboys act like google is broken and literally the only way they can acquire information is by harassing queer ppl on tumblr with these inane questions.

Isn’t Wonder Woman also canonically trans in one series?

Seriously, I know Themyscira has had its problems sometimes but living there’d be a dream

Faggette Flag

Faguette or faggette: the fem (effeminate/feminine) version of fag(got). A reclaimed slang (word rooted as slur) by unmasculine queer folks.

Bandeira Bambi Flag

(Portuguese) Bambi: uma bicha/bixa metida com arte/humanidades universitárias/design ou fashionista, antigamente marica/marika/marique. Também usada como insulto a times de futebol rivais. Parecido com viada/viado/veado/veada.

(English) Bambi: a fag/bish/bitch involved with arts/humanities or fashion/design, previously maricón. Also used as a reclaimed insult in soccer/football for the rival teams/clubs in Brazil, specially with São Paulo “Bambi Tricolor”. Not to be confused with bambisexual nor bambi lesbian.

Afidelity/Anfidelity/Nonfidelity: The agamous/anattractional/nonamorous version of polyfidelity. Afidelity is when you do not maintain fidelity to any partners, because you have not, do not, and will not have partners to maintain fidelity to. Not the same as infidelity.

Analloerotic Pride Flag

[ID: 3 lines with desatured red, bluish grayed black and yellow]

Analloeroticism (or analloeroticity/analloerotism/analloerotia): having no sexual interests in other persons.

Not to be confused with autosexual/solosexual (or autoerotic/soloerotic), this is is just being not ectosexual (or ectoerotic), because this could be just lack of sexual interests too.

Coined on 1990s I guess, encompassing asexuality and being automono-

Welcome to Transhetlove!

This is a transhet (heterosexual and/or heteroromantic trans people) positivity blog maintained by me, Riley.

Note that I use the definition of transhet as determined by the trans community, not the terf community; the term is used here to mean “trans men who are exclusively attracted to women, and trans women who are exclusively attracted to men”.

The flag that this blog uses as its logo is a transhet pride flag created by my friend Elie about 10 hours ago as of writing.

Are you a straight trans person who wants some positivity? Follow this blog! Hopefully it will actually go somewhere 😅

More Simplified Flags!

Genderfae | Genderflor | Genderfaun

Genderfaer | Genderfeor | Genderfaunet

Genderfae and genderfaer are nearly identical, and genderfaun and genderfaunet are nearly identical. Are there any alternate flags or color adjusted flags proposed?

Here’s some: one two

gqid:

The September 2010 genderqueer flag is a design proposal of mine (Marilyn Roxie | neonsigh on Tumblr), modified from an initial attempt I had made in June 2010. The new design is more clear and is aesthetically similar to the gay and lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, and pansexual flags – that is, a series of horizontal colored bars, each with special meaning, and intended to unique groups and spread awareness. The meaning of the colors in the genderqueer flag design is as follows:

  • lavender – the mixing of blue and pink (traditional male and female colors, also present on the trans flag); meant to represent those under the GQ umbrella who feel they are both male and female in identity, as well as “queerness”, as for example, lavender has been associated with homosexuality and bisexuality
  • dark chartreuse green – the inverse of the lavender color; meant to represent GQ individuals who feel they are neither male nor female in identity,
  • white – meant to represent GQ individuals falling completely outside of the gender binary.

Feel free to spread this image around and utilize it however you like! For more information, see here, from a newly launched Tumblr on genderqueer identities: http://gqid.tumblr.com/about-flag

okok so i’ve rlly been thinking lately and it…feels like i have no gender but at the same time i do? i think of it like there’s a slot in my brain where “gender” should be, like a puzzle. except, the gender piece is missing, and is replaced by something else. (in my case, color/light) something else is where my gender should be so i’m both genderless and i have a gender at the exact same time and idk…

interesting….well my first suggestion would be libragender ( a gender that feels agender but has a strong connection to another gender)

I would also suggest xenogender (xenogender being an umbrella for genders that…aren’t genders, but are more like concepts or nouns, as well as being an individual gender label for someone who feels in general that their gender isn’t/can’t be defined by current understandings of gender.)

You said specifically color/light, so there is colorgender and lichtgender, which are xenogenders that feel like color and light, respectively.

You also mentioned it feeling like a puzzle, so there is also puzzlegender, and just to have more to look at for possibilities, there’s geminigender, heliogender, and gendervoid.

If none of those fit, I would highly recommend looking through the blog that is in all of those links, there are so many more. And you can also coin a term specifically to fit you! That’s what most of these terms were to someone once, so if you need to, that’s totally cool!

Also [Here] is my google docs that has them all listed alphabetically including ones that don’t have designs and aren’t on my blog!

This comic from Lilo the Autistic Queer (@A_Silent_Queer on Twitter) made me smile today. There is no one way to look trans, and no one way to transition. However you choose to express your authentic self is good and doing what makes you happy regardless of what cis people think is good.

[ID: three images drawn by a_silent_child. The first is titled “When people talk about transition, I often see…”, showing a drawing of two people facing the viewer. The man on the left is thin, has light skin and a beard, and is neatly dressed in a button-down and jeans. Arrows point to him and say ‘binary trans man’ and ‘he/him pronouns’. The woman on the right is thin, has light skin and is wearing a pink dress. Arrows point to her and say ‘binary trans woman’ and ‘she/her pronouns’. Arrows point to both of them and say ‘had HRT’, ‘multiple surgeries’ and ‘cis passing’. Underneath it reads “And it’s not wrong. They are trans.”

The second image is titled “But let’s get something clear…”, showing two people, one facing the viewer and the other looking to the left. The person on the right is fat, has dark skin, and is wearing a purple shirt that says ‘autistic & cute’ and galaxy-patterned leggings. Arrows point to him and say ‘likes to be called ‘cute’‘, ‘had top surgery’, ‘doesn’t want HRT’, and ‘socially transitioning’. A label reads ‘he is also trans’. The person on the left is thin, has brown skin, and is wearing a crop top and shorts. Arrows point to her and say ‘can’t afford HRT’, ‘socially transitioning’, ‘doesn’t like dresses’, and ‘likes having a penis’. A label reads ‘and her’.

The third image shows three people, two looking towards the viewer and one looking to the left. The person on the right is thin, has light skin, and is wearing dark jeans with chains and a fishnet-style crop top that reads ‘happy thoughts’. Arrows point to zir and say ‘wants HRT’, ‘wants breasts’, and ‘not a woman’. A label reads ‘and zir’. The person in the middle has brown skin, is thin, is wearing a red jumper and blue jeans, and is using crutches. Arrows point to them and say ‘socially transitioned’, ‘uses they or fae pronouns’, and ‘not a woman’. A label points to fae and the person standing next to them and reads ‘and them too.’ The person on the left is fat, has brown skin, is wearing a floral-patterned yellow dress and has a beard. Arrows point to them and say ‘wants bottom surgery, but not top’, ‘feels pretty with a beard’, and ‘uses she or they pronouns’. End ID]

Hallucigender

A gender related to or influenced by hallucinations and delusions a mentally ill person may have.

There are no set pronouns for this gender!

I couldnt decide which flag to use, so i just figured that both would work!

Please inform me if someone has coined something exactly the same as this or if my flags are too similar to existing ones!

variant-archive:

Queerotic/Queeroticism/QE: A form of queerplatonic/alterous
(attraction and/or relationship) that has significant erotic, sexual, or
sensual components. It is an alterous, erotic emotional bond, and the
erotic aspects of the relationship/attraction feel tied into the
emotional aspects. While not necessary, queerotic relationships often
use eroticism as a way to express emotional bonds, and not just for
sexual attraction/satisfaction. A queerotic partner/relationship is
called a QEP/QER for short, but individuals may also use QPP/QPR
(queerotic and queerplatonic attraction/relationships are not mutually
exclusive in any way and overlap).

Flag meanings:

Based off of one of the queerplatonic flags, but with adjustments to suit the term.

The
green heart represents aromantic love and attraction, alloaros, and the
concept of a non-romantic erotic and emotional bond. It’s also a color
used in the autoerotic and homoerotic flags. The darker green stripe
represents arospecs in general.

Pink represents queerness, as
one of the colors associated with queerplatonic. Yellow is also
associated with QP, representing the platonic part, but I didn’t use it
in order to distance the term from platonic for apl folx like me who may
feel weird about queerplatonic having the word “platonic” in it. It’s
also used in the autoerotic and homoerotic flags, represented here as a deeper shade.

Gray represents
lack of “traditional” romantic attraction/romantic aspects of a
relationship, including arospecs who are grayromantic and queerotic
relationships that have some romantic component (like a wavership or
semiship).

This
term can be used by anyone but it’s made with alloaros and aplatonics
in mind, especially those who feel that their sexual and alterous/QP
orientations/attraction are tied to one another, as opposed to being
entirely split from one another.
