Got attacked in my DM’s just now because I commented on someone’s discourse about how the SAM is biphobic that no it’s not, y’all are just using it when it’s not for you.
They told me I was biphobic and homophobic because I refused to denounce outright the SAM.
The Split Attraction Model is not inherently homophobic or biphobic. All the Split Attraction Model is, is a way for those of us who are aspec to understand and define the attraction we experience.
It allows people who are asexual to continue to define themselves as asexual even as they experience bi, homo, or hetero attractions.
It allows people who are aromantic to continue to define themselves as aromantic even as they experience bi, homo, or hetero attractions.
A person using SAM is no more homophobic, biphobic, panphobic, or transphobic as any other person in the queer community.
No one is expected to use the SAM but anyone who wants CAN use it if it helps.
Furthermore No one can tell anyone to stop using it. It’s a term and a concept and it’s out there. Furthermore, it’s useful for a HUGE number of queer people. You may not like it, you may not want it, and you may not understand it, but it’s part of queer culture now and you’re going to have to reckon with that.
*note this version has been edited slightly from my original post following conversation from @aro-space-case who rightly pointed out that SAM is for anyone who wants to use it, not just aspec people.
[ID: The it’s more likely than you think meme. Large text says “Aro and polyam people relating to each other’s experiences? In a world that heavily emphasizes monogamous romantic relationships?”, and below is smaller text that says “It’s more likely than you think.” End ID]
Why do people hate otherkin so much? Like I thought it was a religious/spiritual belief (I’m not otherkin though so I could be wrong).
Aren’t you supposed to…NOT mock people for their religion?
Like if someone told you that they believe in reincarnation, you wouldn’t mock them, right? But like a lot of otherkin believe in that and it’s ok to mock them? That makes no sense.
tl,dr: let people have their own beliefs, please. (as long as they aren’t hurting anybody. otherkin don’t harm others by being otherkin.)

Except America wasn’t an endless expanse of forest with no certain borders. At least not while human beings inhabited it. The idea that native peoples did not cultivate or shape our land and that we had no borders is white propaganda meant to dehumanize and de-legitimize native peoples.
This illustration here show Apalachee people using slash and burn methods for agriculture. Fires were set regularly to intention burn down forests and plains. Why would we do this? Well because an unregulated forest isn’t that great for people, actually. We set fires to destroy new forest growth and undergrowth, and to remove trees, allowing for easier game hunting, nutrient enriched soil, and better growth rates for crops and herbs we used in food and medicine.
Pre-Colonial New England, where my tribe the Abenaki are from, looked more like an extensive meadow or savannah with trees growing in pockets and groves. Enough woodland to support birds, deer, and moose, but not too much to make hunting difficult. We carefully shaped the land around us to suit our needs as a thriving and successful people. Slash and burn agriculture was practiced virtually everywhere in the new world, from the pacific coast to chesapeake bay, from panama to quebec. It was a highly successful way of revitalizing the land and promoting crop growth, as well as preventing massive forest fires that thrive in unregulated forests. Berries were the major source of fruit for my tribe, and we needed to burn the undergrowth so they could grow.
That changed when white people invaded, and brought with them disease. In my tribe, up to 9 in 10 people died. 90% of our people perished not from violence starvation, but from disease. Entire villages would be decimated, struck down by small pox. Suddenly, we couldn’t care for the land anymore. There weren’t enough of us to maintain a vast, carefully structured ecological system like we had for thousands of years. We didn’t have the numbers, or strength. So the trees grew back and unregulated. We couldn’t set fires anymore, and we couldn’t cultivate the land. And white people would make certain we never could again. Timber, after all, was the most important export from New England.
Endless trees and untamed wilderness is a nice fantasy. But it’s a very white fantasy, one that erases the history of my people and of my land. One that paints native peoples are merely parasites leeching off the land, not masters of the earth who new the right balance of hunting and agriculture. It robs us of our agency as people, and takes our accomplishments from us. Moreover, it implies that only white people ever discovered the power to shape the world around them, and that mere brown people can’t possibly have had anything to do with changing our environment.
Don’t bring back untamed wilderness. Bring back my fire setters, my tree sappers, my farmers and my fishers. Bring back my people who were here first.

:
hi! this is my first gender-coining post, so constructive criticism is welcome, and please let me know if this has been done before!
Manglegender: A gender relating to Mangle from Five Nights at Freddys! This gender can feel very worn down and broken, as if its been taken apart and put together again, hard and plastic-like, fox related, and/or haunted/possesed!
Pronouns are Mangle/Mangles/Mangleself
Foxygender: A gender relating to Foxy from Five Nights at Freddys! This gender can feel very worn down, fox-like, soft and fluffy, fuzzy, out of order, and/or haunted/possesed!
it’s called universian and i’m coining it as an addition to the galactian alignment system. it in some way encompasses every alignment type below it, including masculine, feminine, neutral, xenic, and void/lack (with room for rejection of gender and gender nonconformity). it can be comprised of every alignment at once or can be fluid among them.
here’s the flag i put together pretty quickly! it has five horizontal stripes, which from top to bottom are purple, lime green, black, white, and pink. purple represents the fluidity or complexity of experiencing gender in multiple or varying forms. green represents ties to nonbinary and xenic genders and alignments. black represents the vastness of gender possibility as well as a potential lack or void of gender. white doesn’t really represent much honestly, it just looks nice on the flag. come up with your own meaning if you want. and pink represents potential ties to masculinity and femininity. there is a white spiral symbol in the center of the black stripe that looks like a galaxy or a theoretical universal shape.
it’s possible others have already coined similar concepts in this alignment system! i just haven’t been able to find one that encompasses all of these aspects so i’m coining my own term. and if you’re curious, yes, i do id with it myself!
i did coin this as a gender alignment, which by definition isn’t necessarily a gender itself (depending how you use it), but please feel free to use it as either!! ❤
New Gender To Coin!!! Skunkgender! An unaligned NINgender (neutral-in-nature) associated with skunks. It sticks and lingers on other genders, comes out mainly at night, and relates both to trash and to nature. Colour Meanings: Black – nighttime/darkness White – nonbinary/unaligned Green – nature Blue – trash

This struggle you are going through is real, please do not let yourself or anyone invalidate you further by saying youre lazy.

hello @TessasTeaTime on twitter made an excellent thread on why straight trans people dont have straight privilege and i asked her if i could post it here and she said yes so bam get ready
[Image Description: A series of screenshots of a Twitter thread by the user @TessasTeaTime. The text is as follows:
An argument people often try to make when trying to say that trans het people have privilege over trans gay people is “having privilege on one axis doesn’t negate oppression on another.” A good example of this is white trans women, who still have white privilege.
And yeah what they’re saying is completely true, but it doesn’t apply here with trans hets. People hear the label “het” and think that it means “has het privilege,” while completely ignoring that “het boy” and “het girl” are completely different things. One is a boy attracted solely or primarily to women, and one is a girl attracted solely or primarily to men. Het boy and het girl are not the same thing, despite using the same label as het.
Privilege comes from basically existing the way that society wants you to exist and being rewarded for it. In the example of a white trans woman, society does not want her to be trans so punishes her for that, but it does still want her to be white so rewards her for that. In the example of a trans het woman though…
Society doesn’t want her to be trans so they punish her for it, but… society doesn’t want her to “be straight,” society wants her to be a Straight Boy!! And she fails to be a straight boy, instead being a straight girl. Like I said, being a straight boy and being a straight girl, despite having the same label of straight, are not the same thing.
Society wants trans het women to be straight men, but we defy that by being straight women and get punished for it. Likewise, society wants trans het men to be straight women, but they defy that by being straight men. This is what I mean when I say straight privilege is built on the foundation of cis privilege.
If your gender is acknowledged like cis people’s genders are, then a trans het woman would be expected to be a het woman, and a trans het man would be expected to be a het man. You can only access straight privilege in the real world if you first have access to cis privilege. If a trans het person passes as cis, then that does mean they can “borrow” cis privilege as long as they’re not clocked and assumed to be cis, which would then allow them to “borrow” straight privilege… as long as they happen to be able to pass and don’t get clocked.
I guess “passing privilege” (😒) could be a really bad substitute for cis privilege which would allow some trans hets to access straight privilege sometimes in some circumstances as long as they don’t get clocked… I suppose? But considering the other issues trans het people face which are unique to trans hets, I think we can all agree it’s less a case of “trans het people have an extremely slight very marginal privilege sometimes” and more of a case of “all trans people have different experiences of transness” lmao.
One last note: I am a het girl. The world raised me to be a het boy, and I defied that demand by being a het girl instead. I am trans het, and for me, being straight as a woman, being a straight woman, is queer as fuck!]
Isossex/isogenital, abssex/absex/absgenital or metagenital/metasex: not being cissex/cisgenital nor transsex/transgenital; conceptualizing your sex as neither trans or cis.
Also named isosexed, isossexed, isosexual(ity) [specious], isosexus, isosexuous/isosexous, isossexo, isosexe, isogonadal, metagonadal, absgonadal, isogenic, isogenetic [hyponyms].
Iso- comes from isomers, suggested/coined/signified/created by anon via @bigendering describing those who are uncomfortable with calling themselves trans but aren’t cis either.
It’s interpreted as “neither” as opposed to utrinque “both”. However, iso etymologically means “equal”.
a version of my bisexualgender flag in the same vein as these variations! this one is for genderless people and other nonbinary people who aren’t men and/or women.
[Image ID: Three 1:1 images. The background is split vertically, with black on the left and gray on the right. In the middle is a triangle made up of three, thick lines that overlap the each other in the clockwise direction. For all three images, left line is green and the right line is purple. The bottom line is yellow in the first image, a brighter yellow in the second image, and orange in the third image. Both the inside and outside of the triangle are outlined in white. End ID.]
Made the middle triangle an outline rather than solid white because I think it is more reminiscent of the letter A this way.
The 2nd version has a yellow closer to that of the aplatonic flag. (I know a critique was the yellow next to the green made the person think of the alloaro flag, so I thought it being less warm would help.)
The 3rd version is orange because the other aplatonic colors (purple, blue, and green) are associated with other a-spec IDs. Orange isn’t an aplatonic color, but it really seems like the only other color available to use if we don’t use yellow. (I know orange is on the aroace flag, but I don’t think it’s really recognized as an aroace color (like blue is), though that may just be my perception.)
The lines of the triangle overlap just because I think it looks nice. Rearranged the color order for the same reason.
I did not mean for the triangle to be a different shape from the original. I forgot the base was given on the original post, so I made a triangle myself.

This is my take on a flag for gay men !! I honestly did this as a fun project to try and design something for my community, but ive never actually designed a flag before so. this was new and fun !! excuse any typos i’m not great at typing/spelling. feel free to leave some onions / suggestions or make your own icons based on this !!
This flag is inclusive of asexual, trans, and she-her men of all kinds !! Don’t try and clown on this post !!
Pulchritudogender: (Latin for beauty) A gender that changes depending on how you alter your appearance/body, like hair and makeup. Not to be confused with Formagender, which involves the type of clothing and colour.
not knowing your gender and often changing your identity
use:
can be used in conjunction with another gender (ex: “I’m an ignotic girl”) or by itself (“I’m ignotic”)
why does it need to be coined?:
quoigender is an identity that ignotic people could fluctuate to.
questioning includes people who don’t know their sexuality, but ignotic is exclusively for gender.
genderflux and genderfluid people’s genders actually change, ignotic people simply change their identities while searching for the right one (though they can be comfortable in staying ignotic forever)
here is the flag and its meaning:
the triangle is used to represent someone of unknown gender in a family tree.

REALMAIC (rell-may-ick) – coined by me (aspenshoard)
A gender having to do with the Nine Realms of Norse Mythology, and the rainbow bridge between them, Bifröst. Also related to Yggdrasil, the great elm tree also known more commonly as “the World Tree” or “the Tree of Life.”
This gender feels semi-fluid, the Bifröst allowing the realmaic individual to flow between genders, just like they were using the magickal bridge to cross between them. The journey between the genders my be a long and blurry one, but once arrived at the destination gender, the feeling of relation to said gender is strong and feels both magickal and comfortable.
This could also be an individual who flows between genders related to each of the Nine Realms (terms for those coming soon.)
