OP, what’s the difference between DFAB and AFAB? /gq
In terms of identity and denoting, it’s just a personal thing. In some places of the Earth, the word assigned (A) isn’t used that much. While designation (D) connotes more corporeally (medical), assignment connotes more juridically (philosophical). Then one is biopolitical and the other sociopolitical.
This is important to note as some intersex people were assigned one thing while biologically pertaining to a corner/side of the bimodal sex spectrum. At the same time, altersex people can struggle with self-determination and terminology. A post-HRT trans* folk can reject the fact that they are MtF/AMAB or FtM/AFAB, for example. Think also about eunuchs and gender socialization.
