Firstly, a little defenition (because I didn’t precisely what it was and a lot of people probably don’t either) :

Functional diversity is a politically and socially correct term for special needs, disability, impairment and handicap, which began to be used in Spain in scientific writing, at the initiative of those directly affected, in 2005. (from Wikipedia).

Here’s the pride flag :

Functional Diversity

Flag meanings

  • Background : Disabled pride
  • First stripe (from left to right) : Chronic pains
  • Second stripe : Mental and intellectual functional diversity
  • Third stripe : Physical functional diversity
  • Forth stripe : Neurodiversity
  • Fith stripe : Disabilities

Note : I’m personally not a fan of those terms because it implies that saying disabled is inherently badnegative. But I’m only “against” that when it’s a non-disabled person saying those terms. If you’re disabled and identify as a person with special needs and/or with a functional diversity, it’s amazing, super valid and you’re wonderful!
