transpeak:

Here is today’s message from one of our admins, 알퀸 (Alcuin):

“FTM" is an abbreviation for female-to-male, meaning that one was assigned female at birth (AFAB) and identifies as male, or somewhere on the masculine spectrum. Though this most usually pertains to those aligned with the gender binary, the term “FTM” can also encompass non-binary, demi, flux, and fluid AFAB people that are male-presenting, even if they are not strictly male identified.

According to some studies, there are fewer self-reported FTM individuals than there are MTF individuals–the reasons for which are mutifaceted and widely varied. With generally fewer individuals representing transmen in the sphere of transgender voices, information regarding hormones, surgery, challenges, and experiences for FTMs can be skewed by misinformation and assumptions. These assumptions often go uncorrected because some feel uncomfortable asking transmen directly about their experiences, and in many circumstances, some transmen have been socialized not to initiate in such weighty dialogue without first being asked.

Today is a great day to ask the questions you might never have felt comfortable asking before! This day is both for education, and to celebrate FTM people, so be loud, and be proud!

Flags:

Though there is no “official” FTM flag, there are several artists’ renditions of trans-masculine specific flags. You can download these emojis for use on your own Discord servers at: http://imgur.com/a/kaGSA

This particular flag is my own design. If you’re curious about the meaning behind it, feel free to ask!
