Mantleic isn’t a gender on it’s own, it’s sort of an “overlay” that is on top of a gender, making it more visible or hard to see. The best way to describe this is that it’s a layer above one’s gender, and it feels as though it’s opacity is changing and therefore one’s ability to recognize their gender.

It’s sort of like fluctuation, but the gender itself remains as it is, but becomes more difficult to see. The gender itself may fluctuate at a different rate than the layer above it.

The layer doesn’t have a certain form, so can work in different situations, whether the layer itself is null, agendered, void, or has a distinct gendered feeling depends on the person.

The word “mantle” means to wrap around or cover something, so it seemed perfect!
