Ay’lonit is a gender specific and exclusive to Jewish culture. A modern gender analog would be FTM transgender or AFAB intersex people, however, ay’lonit can only be used by those of the Jewish faith. It was traditionally used for intersex AFAB who never displayed post-pubescent female traits. This is, again, not to be used by those outside Judaism. Commonly used by Jewish transgender individuals, intersex and nonbinary people.
